Day 2 – iPhone App

Still not approved.  I know I’m getting way to ahead of myself……but I’m anxious to see the outcome.

First iPhone App Submitted

Last night I submitted my first iPhone app. It’s called ‘The Hatch’ and provides a hatch chart of fly’s on many of the west’s best fly fishing rivers.

Hopefully look for it soon on the App Store!

Tmobile and unlock iPhones

So a couple days ago I started recieving a text message dated 1969 from no sender with just an “@” in the text.  I then started narrowing it down to the fact that anytime I did something relating to voicemail I received it.  Frustrating, because if I listened to a voicemail, I recieved this text and the dot wouldn’t disappear.

Apparently Tmobile is aware of it and ‘working’ on it.  There are a few message board threads popping up in regards to this.  Hopefully Tmobile gets this under control because apparently it’s affecting all unlocked phones.

Windows Server 2003 – AutoAdminLogon

AutoAdminLogon is pretty handy for those instances where a computer or server must be logged in at all times with an interactive session.  Microsoft has documented a few changes that need to be done in the registry to enable this feature, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324737

Please note, if your setting up AutoAdminLogon for a workstation or server, don’t forget to set the ‘DontDisplayLastUserName’ key to ’0′.  If it is non-existant or set to ’1′ the server will remember whoever was logged into the console last, over-riding the ‘DefaultUserName’ key that was set in the registry.  I’m not sure why Microsoft didn’t include this in their documentation, but it needs to be there.
For the servers that I’ve set this up on, I’ve also added a .bat file that will lock the screen after logging in.  Create a bat file and put the following in it.
rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation

Put the bat file in the startup items folder.  Microsoft recommends you restart your server at that time to test it out.  If you don’t get the chance to restart it, make sure you test it out at some point.

Managing Internet Explorer Popup Blocker with GPO

Popup blocker sure can be a pain, especially when it interfere’s with valid work related stuff.  In a domain environment the list can be centrally managed (and locked down) if you please.

Open Group Policy Management:
  • Add a new GPO or edit an existing one
  • Drill down to User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer NOTE: You can browse to either Computer Configuration or User Configuration depending on how you want to enforce the policy
  • Open the ‘Pop-up Allow List’, enable the policy and add your list of sites.
If you want to lock down the list so users can’t add or remove objects, Enable the ‘Turn off Managing Pop-up Allow List’

Interview with Blink

Danielle and Anna (Blink Photography) were recently interviewed by a cool company they have done some work for. Read it here http://bellaink.typepad.com/bella_ink_blog/2008/09/life-between-bl.html

Good job hun.

The hole is getting deeper

All the windshield reveal molding is gone, tranny is out (as well as the remaining tranny fluid which decided to pour out the back all over the floor)

I think I may finish taking the interior door panels and such out and then focus my attention on the engine bay. The tranny will probably be off to the shop to be giving a good going through. I found the car has a TH-400 which is cool. It also came with 2 drivelines in the trunk, yes, the trunk is big enough for a 6 foot drive shaft. One is a little shorter than the other, so I should be all set as far as drive lines go.

I’m a little torn as to how indepth I want to go on this. The engine bay is very clean. Paint is still nice and black. I’m a little tempted to get the tranny done, get all my new brake setups and bolt it all in with the motor. That way she’ll be running and the body shop can do their thing. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take to get the money for the body and paint work she needs. I’m taking donations :)

Rust

Hopefully someone can do something with these rust spots. With enough money I’m sure anyone can…. Is this something I sand down and fiberglass?

Dismantling

The dismantling process has begun. No pictures, because it’s not pretty, but I basically started at the rear window and I’m working my way forward. Seats are out, all the super old and torn interior on the drivers side is out, carpet, and chrome strips are being removed.

Some of the chrome is being a little difficult as some screws are seized pretty well. I’m a little stuck on removing the chrome on the outside of the car along the gutter. When the chasis and body manual show up, hopefully they will give me some insight….

I think we may paint the car back to it’s original…. Here are some decent pictures http://www.milestonepaint.com/orchid.htm
